Missing in Action?

Hello everyone (or if anyone still reads this blog),

Some people may actually wondering where have I been and why have I not posted in over a year.

Simple answer is I am lazy!

Well that’s not quite true, it is a little but mainly I have been background researching players and have been planning and designing the new look WTFC website.  OK so the front that everyone sees won’t be changing but the behind the scenes and will be completely overhauled and made so it takes up less space.

Add to that kids, wife and work and you have a pretty worn out old chap at the end of the day that finds it hard to sit down and write an article on something like players, matches or incidents.

I have tonight written one article and I am just waiting for the the next of kin to give it the go ahead before I publish it.

I also have been busy researching and thanks to a couple of ladies on a forum I use they have managed to locate the births and deaths of a rather a large number of old players.

I also have a little bit of strange info I found out today whilst researching.

Back in the 1880s Whitby Church Temperance team had a captain called Rev. EJD Simpson. So after a bit of searching I found that his name was Edward J. D. Simpson and in 1911 he was the Curate of Whitby. Then I discovered he was born in Meerats, INDIA.

So there you go.  We have a fully international former team.
