Whitby manager Harry Dunn signed the former Middlesbrough winger from Scarborough in August 2003 and handed him his debut in a 3-1 defeat at Frickley Athletic on the 25th August 2003, coming off the bench after 54 minutes to score Whitby’s only goal. After another substitute appearance Anth made his full debut for the Blue’s on the 3rd September 2003 in a 2-1 victory at the Turnbull Ground over Gainsborough Trinity. Anth scored the winning goal in the 2-1 FA Cup 4th qualifying round replay victory over Bromsgrove Rovers at the Turnbull Ground on the 29th October 2003 to set up a 1st round tie away to Hartlepool United. Anth went on to make 49 (+3 as a substitute) scoring 8 goals as Whitby finished 15th in the league and then lost out on a place in the newly formed Conference North after losing in the play offs to Radcliffe Borough after a penalty shoot out . The following season 2004/05 saw Anth make his 100th appearance for Whitby on the 13th April 2005 in a 2-1 home defeat to Wakefield & Emley and then suffer play off agony again as David Logan’s side finished 4th but lost 1-0 after extra time in the play off semi-final away to Farsley Celtic on Saturday 4th May 2005 with Anth making 49 (+ 4 as a sub) appearances, scoring 9 goals that season. Anth came off the bench as Whitby won the North Riding Senior Cup in the opening game of the 2005/06 season with a 3-0 victory over Middlesbrough Reserves on the 3rd August 2005 and he made his 150th appearance for the club on the 19th April 2006 in a 2-0 away victory over Guiseley going on to make 45 (+3 as a sub) appearances, scoring 9 goals as Whitby finished in 6th place. Season 2006/07 saw Anth again being one of the first names on the team sheet going on to play 42 (+3) appearances for the club scoring 5 goals. Whitby struggled the following season 2007/08 and only a last day victory over Ilkeston Town saved the club from relegation with Anth getting one of the goals in a 4-0 victory on Saturday 26th April 2008, Anth making 25 (+6) appearances that season scoring 6 goals, he made his 200th appearance for the club on the 22nd August 2007 in a 2-1 away defeat at Gateshead.

Anthony only made 2 full appearances and 1 substitute appearance for Whitby in 2008/09 as injuries took their toll and he went out on loan to Northern League side Spennymoor Town to try and gain match fitness in October 2008 but he never regained his place in the team under manager Graham Clarke as Whitby once again needed a last day victory over Ilkeston town to avoid relegation.
Harry Dunn was re-appointed Whitby Manager in June 2009 after Clarke had resigned and Anth joined back up with the club but again injuries kept him out of the side and he went on to make a further 4 (+3 as a sub) appearances for the club with his last game for Whitby coming in the 5-1 home defeat to Buxton on Saturday 17th April 2009, his first game for the club since the previous September. He went on to join Northern League side Norton and Stockton Ancients before signing for fellow Northern League 2nd Division side and his home town club Marske United in August 2010 where he went on to make 85 appearances, scoring 8 goals for the club helping them to promotion to Division One before retiring from the game.

In total Anthony made 239 appearances for Whitby Town scoring 37 goals.
